PATTI LA BELLE AT KEYS

On Thursday, January 27th Cleveland Gays, who were at Keys, got a real special treat, a visit by Patti La Belle. Patti was in town doing the musical play, "Your Arms Are Too Short To Box With God".

Kevin and Mark had arranged for the visit, so the always busy bar was overflowing by 11pm. Patti, accompanied by her back-up singers & pianist, posed for photos, signed autographs and sang "Somewhere, Over The Rainbow" live.

I'm sure everyone that was there, joins me in saying thanks to Patti La Belle and Mark & Kevin for a great evening.

Kenny Coss, ACTION's Music Director, did the following exclusive ACTION interview with Miss Patti LaBelle at Keys last week.

Kenny; Miss La Belle, welcome to Cleveland, are you enjoying your stay?

Patti; Call me Patti, and yes I think Cleveland is a great city. Kenny; How would you compare Cleveland's audiences with other cities tou have played in?

Patti; I have always enjoyed performing in Ohio, the audience really appreciates you.

Kenny; Were you ever a Gospel singer?

Patti; Yes, I've been a Gospel singer all of my life. I love Gospel music, but never thought it would take me as far as the Broadway Stage.

Disco BALLROOM

Kenny; When you first started out did you think you would make it to Broadway?

Patti; No, I never dreamed that I would be in a Broadway Musical.

Kenny; How did it come about, your being on Broadway?

Patti; The idea came from my producers. At first it didn't seem like a good idea to me but I went ahead with it. I think it is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

Kenny; Do you ever plan on singing with Shara Dash and Mona Hendricks again?

Patti; Yes, we are planning on doing one more album together. Kenny; Do you keep in contact with them?

Patti; We are all very close friends and as far as I'm concerned, they are the best thing that ever happened to me in my singing career. Kenny; I'll let you get back to your friends, thank you Patti. Patti; Thank you, Kenny.
